Fairly inexpensive (low 100s CZK), fairly easy to buy. The device contains a stun gun with two prods at the front, which makes a nice ~7 mm long loudly crackling spark, and a small lightbulb-based torch. The control consists of a switch and two pushbuttons; the switch connects the power to the pushbuttons and power-on LED, the buttons control the flashlight and the high voltage generator. So, let's see what's inside. Schematics The core of the unit is a sealed high voltage power source. This part is potentially reusable in other sorts of projects. More investigation will be done in the future. The power for the unit is provided by nickel-hydride (maybe nickel-cadmium?) cell with 3.6V/250 mAh. Pretty low capacity. The charging circuitry leaves much to be desired. The stepdown converter from mains 230V AC is using a capacitor and is galvanically connected with the mains, leaving the unit potentially dangerous when plugged in. The device's downside is the quality of the soldered joints, which was outright appalling. (A typical problem of made-in-China devices.) Two of them failed shortly after purchase, by falling apart. The correction was easy, though. For tactical use I strongly suggest to resolder all the unit's joints before fielding it. Yes sounds that way , dont it? YES so according to some talk back listeners on ABC Radio today around 9am Qld time Just after a state election the true state of the previous govt is revealed-broke! BEFORE the last recent state election a previous coalition treasurer/spokesperson said something like this Its not true the state of Qld financial affairs are in a good state Qld is broke And gave supporting facts to support Meanwhile the Bligh govt denied this,and electors believed her Now look what they got? Sale of PEOPLES ASSETS(govt assets) Cancellation of fuel subsidy etc Its a known fact Labour were lucky to get back in Qld govt They had about a 3% swing against them There was needed a 4% swing against them for the opposition to replace them Like the federal election-labour got back in with Green and Independant preferances Look at it this way If you put out a company prospectus stating the state of your company And its present and future position and plans And it want true You could be prosecuted for false representation etc-whatever But not if you are a politician/using facts to get back in govt So today the ABC TALK BACK listeners just found out they been conned And dont like it-but cant do anything about it Fancy a Labour govt giving away the peoples taxpayers assets To free enterprize Why get rid of the goose that lays the golden egg-to cover up ones deceit?
